InSite Dance - Site-specific dance films
The name ‘InSite’ first came about for me around 2015 when I started creating more site-specific dance work. It captured the feeling of site-specific dance and InSite Dance quickly became the term I used to refer to this work. Site-specific dance encompasses dance that doesn’t happen in a traditional space, such as a stage/black box/studio/etc. I’m drawn to both natural and industrial spaces and the juxtaposition of the two. This is a theme and is true for my photography work as well. When I’m in a space I will float between feeling inspiration and energy from the space to inform movement, and taking movement I have created in other spaces and throwing it on another space. I can feel my body and energy being informed by the space I’m in. Here are some examples of my site-specific dance film and photography work.
InSite Dance Creative Practice
Since 2020 I’ve been running a creative practice involving site-specific dance and creating short films using iMovie on my phone. This is a practice of not being too precious and just '“doing the thing”.
InSite Dance Films 2015-Present
These are longer dance films I’ve created or collaborated on since 2015, including In This Place & In That Place which I received a SEMAC grant to create.
